About Jeanette

Jeanette is a former preschool teacher with a BA in Human Development and a certificate in Early Childhood Education. She lives in Vancouver, WA with her husband, Marc. Their three young grandchildren live close by.

Both before and during the pandemic, Jeanette spent countless hours making up stories and adventures with her grandchildren, often while playing in their dollhouse. This inspired her to share the fun and excitement of “dollhouse adventures” with other children by writing and photographing these stories, and then making them into picture books.

As a former preschool teacher, Jeanette knows that the ability to engage in socio-dramatic (make-believe) play is one of the hallmarks of cognitive development. By creating imaginary scenarios and playing them out with young kids, you can help your children explore roles, express feelings, and develop creativity and abstract thinking.

Marc is a retired software developer who became interested in 3D printing. Marc made one of his first printing projects to design and make LED track lighting for our dollhouse. Lighting was a remarkably appealing enhancement. The lit-up dollhouse was a big hit and it became a main attraction for the kids.

Over time we began adding onto the dollhouse. A park and café were added by decorating the small bookcase that the dollhouse was sitting on. The lights were updated with brighter lights, and an IoT (Internet of Things) controller was added so each room can be turned on or off from a cell phone or tablet. At Christmas “Papa Deer” put up colorful holiday lights on the exterior, also IoT enabled.

More space meant more furnishings were needed. The house needed windows, a refrigerator, a television, tablets, a washer/dryer, a piano, etc.  All of these items and more were 3D printed and most are available for download with many more demonstrated by the 3D Printable links in the sidebar.
